Anticoagulation

Anticoagulation Services at St. Luke's

When it comes to the use of the anti-coagulant drug warfarin, most commonly known by its brand name Coumadin®, safety is our top concern. At our anticoagulation clinics, we're dedicated to managing your warfarin dosage, monitoring your blood’s clotting ability, and providing you with critical education about this complex therapy. We'll work closely with your care team to ensure your warfarin dosage and blood levels are kept in a safe, therapeutic range for your medical condition. Clinic services include:

  • Instant clotting time (prothrombin time) results, using only a few drops of blood from a single finger stick
  • International normalized ratio (INR) lab results, used to monitor the effectiveness of blood-thinning drugs, determined within minutes
  • Consultations to discuss results and make dosing adjustments as needed
  • Documentation of results and recommendations for your medical record and your referring physician
  • Clotting drug management therapy for surgery or other invasive procedures
  • Screening and counseling for drug and food interactions
