About Michael J. Curtin

Biography

Michael J. Curtin, MD, AAOS, ABOS, ASES is fellowship trained in orthopedic sports medicine and currently serves as the medical director for St. Luke’s Sports Medicine. His practice focuses on surgical treatment of shoulder conditions including arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic labral repair and shoulder instability surgery, and disorders of the biceps tendon. He performs shoulder replacement surgery as well as reverse shoulder replacement procedures. He also performs arthroscopic surgical procedures on the knee including ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. He has expertise in the areas of elbow arthroscopy as well as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction of the elbow (Tommy John surgery).

Dr. Curtin is a member of the the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society, one of just three members in the state of Idaho. He is the orthopedic team physician for the College of Idaho, the Boise Hawks Baseball Club, and Eagle High School. He is also a team physician for the US Soccer Federation. While practicing in Denver prior to moving to Boise, he served as orthopedic physician for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club and as a consultant for the Denver Broncos Football Club. He was the director of athletic medical services for alpine skiing at the Snow Basin venue, 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games.

Dr. Curtin earned his bachelor’s degree at Yale University where he was a two-sport athlete in football and track. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah where he also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. He completed his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
