Sean P. Stroup, MD, MBA, FACS is an expert in urologic oncology with a concentration in the evaluation and management of prostate, kidney, testicular, and bladder cancer, as well as BPH, kidney stone disease, and other urologic conditions. He is skilled in the performance of da Vinci® robotic surgery for all urinary tract malignancies and benign conditions. His surgical expertise also includes percutaneous and ureteroscopic removal of kidney stones, ureteral reimplant, pyeloplasty, bladder diverticulectomy, retroperitoneal robotic surgery and a wide array of reconstructive urologic surgery. Listening to patients and compassionately helping them through their treatment is the hallmark of Dr. Stroup’s approach to patient care.
Dr. Stroup served as battalion surgeon with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) and the 1st Marine Division, and as the advance team surgeon for Pacific Partnership 2012. He has served as Chairman of Urology and Director of Urologic Oncology at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Dr. Stroup has published over 60 articles and was promoted to professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Stroup has received a Meritorious Service Medal and five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, including one with a combat “V” distinguishing device. Dr. Stroup retired as a captain from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of active service prior to joining St. Luke’s.
