St. Luke's Hemophilia Center

Managing a bleeding disorder, such as hemophilia or von Willebrand’s disease, is a lifelong journey. As Idaho’s only federally sponsored center for hemophilia, we offer you extensive support, including:

  • Personalized physical therapy and exercise plans
  • Genetic, nutritional, and education/career counseling
  • Financial advocacy and social work services
  • Access to orthotic and infectious disease specialists
  • The latest products, treatments, specialized lab tests, and research studies

    Biography

    Matthew D. Hansen, MD specializes in pediatric hematology/oncology. Before joining St. Luke’s, he served as an assistant professor and an IRB board member for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He was also a lecturer in pediatric hematology and oncology at the University of Michigan.

    Prior to his medical education, Dr. Hansen earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University.

    A disorder caused by a shortage of certain clotting factors needed to help stop bleeding and prevent spontaneous bleeding.

  • Von Willebrands Disease

    With this bleeding disorder, your blood takes longer to form clots, so you bleed for a longer time than other people.
