  • Biography

    Nicolas J. Allen PA-C, MPAS is a nationally certified physician assistant who works closely with Dr. Jonathan Giles and Dr. Scott Henson. He has experience in urology and orthopedic surgery. Nicolas is past president of the Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants, teaches physician assistant studies as adjunct faculty with Idaho State University, and is a clinical coordinator for the College of Idaho's branch of the ISU physician assistant program. He has also served as administrative director of Genesis World Mission, starting the Garden City Community Clinic and participating in several projects in Africa. He earned his bachelor's degree in quantitative analysis from the College of Idaho and his master's degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Utah.

  • Biography

    Caroline Arthur, MD specializes in a broad range of emergency and elective surgical conditions, including diseases of the colon, small intestines, gallbladder, and appendix. She has a special interest in both simple and complex hernias and has extensive experience with minimally invasive surgery. 

    Dr. Arthur is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Americas Hernia Society.

    Richard Ballantyne, DO has particular interest in advanced laparoscopic hernia and colon surgery as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University.  Dr. Ballantyne is a member of the Idaho Medical Association and Ada County Medical Society. He is a native of the Treasure Valley.

    Roberto V. Barresi, MD, FACS specializes in general, laparoscopic, and oncologic (cancer) surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

    Dr. Barresi earned his bachelor's degree in cell and structural biology from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the Idaho Medical Association and Ada County Medical Society.

    Lauren E. Davis, PA-C, MPAS is a physician assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the Idaho Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. 

    Lauren earned her bachelor's degree from Boise State University and her master's degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Utah.

    James Elder, MD specializes in a broad range of emergency and elective surgical conditions. He has special interest in hernias, and any aspect of general surgery.  

    Dr. Elder is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, skiing, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and sports.

    Jon B. Getz, MD, FACS has particular interest and expertise in surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands and surgical treatment of breast cancer and melanoma. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, and Southwestern Surgical Society.

    Dr. Getz earned his medical degree from Boston University, where he also earned his bachelor's degree in medical science and political science. He completed his general surgery residency and internship at the University of Cincinnati. He served as director of the surgical residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, and of the surgical residency program deployment for Operation Desert Storm.

    Jonathan V. Giles, MD, FACS specializes in advanced laparoscopic, oncologic (cancer), hernia repair, and endocrine surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member and Fellow of the Southwest Surgical Congress.

    Dr. Giles earned his bachelor's degree in physiology from the University of California at Davis and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his general surgery residency and internship at the University of Utah and Affiliated Hospitals, and served three years of active duty as a U.S. Air Force surgeon with the 366th Wing Hospital, Mountain Home Air Force Base.

    Natalie Hague, PA-C, specializes in acute general surgery. She assists the acute care surgeons in the operating room and cares for general surgery patients in the hospital. 

    Natalie earned her bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Pepperdine University and her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University. Natalie is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the Idaho Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

    Scott A. Henson, MD, FACS specializes in breast cancer surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and hernia repair. 

    Dr. Henson earned his bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also completed his general surgical residency and internship. Dr. Henson is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Idaho Medical Association, Ada County Medical Society, and American Society of Breast Surgeons.

    Wendy M. Jones, PA-C is a physician assistant who works directly with Dr. Verner in the OR and clinic, performs lipoma removal and other in-office procedures, and assists other surgeons in the OR.

    She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and athletic training from California Polytechnic State University and her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University. She served as a collegiate soccer coach at Washington State University and Boise State University, and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants, and American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants.

    Wendy enjoys volunteer work and served as a clinical volunteer during a medical mission trip to Guatemala. She spends her free time outside, on adventures with her family.

    Rhiana S. Menen, MD is a clinical and academic surgeon with experience and training in general and laparoscopic surgery, and has particular interest in cancer care, women's health, and cancer prevention. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. 

    Dr. Menen is also interested in international and medically underserved populations, and has done medical outreach trips to India and Kenya.

    Anne Peterson, PA-C works directly with Dr. Jon Getz in the operating room and clinic, and assists other surgeons in the operating room.

    Anne earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Northwest Nazarene University and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Idaho State University. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants.

    Colin Soares, PA-C earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from Boise State University, including an emphasis in the molecular and cellular biology of prostate cancer. He is a nationally certified physician assistant and practices in general surgery.

    Jeri Spencer, RN, MSN, FNP sees patients for post-surgical follow-up care. She graduated from Boise State University School of Nursing and earned her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Arizona State University School of Nursing.

    Jeri is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, such as hunting, camping, and gardening.

    Reese A. Verner, MD, FACS specializes in general, laparoscopic, and oncologic (cancer) surgery.

    Dr. Verner served as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps Reserve. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Medical Association, and Idaho Medical Association.
