Matthew A. Burtelow, MD, PhD is a pathologist with Boise Pathology Group and executive medical director for St. Luke's laboratories. Dr. Burtelow also serves on the state of Idaho's coronavirus testing task force.
Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Burtelow earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at the University of Arizona, graduating summa cum laude. Next, he completed a combined MD/PhD degree at the Mayo Clinic, funded by the federal government and NIH's medical scientist training program (MSTP). Dr. Burtelow then completed a residency in combined anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as a general surgical pathology fellowship at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatic pathology at the University of Washington.
