Matthew A. Burtelow, MD, PhD is a pathologist with Boise Pathology Group and executive medical director for St. Luke's laboratories. Dr. Burtelow also serves on the state of Idaho's coronavirus testing task force.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Burtelow earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at the University of Arizona, graduating summa cum laude. Next, he completed a combined MD/PhD degree at the Mayo Clinic, funded by the federal government and NIH's medical scientist training program (MSTP). Dr. Burtelow then completed a residency in combined anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as a general surgical pathology fellowship at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatic pathology at the University of Washington.
