By Chereen Langrill, Notes and Announcements

Strong leadership, exceptional patient care and going above and beyond as a volunteer were all hallmarks of individuals honored recently for their service within St. Luke’s Health System.

The following individuals were awarded during the annual Idaho Hospital Association conference in Sun Valley:

  • Dr. Dan Zuckerman, executive medical director for St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute, received the Excellence in Medicine Award for the dedication he has demonstrated to his patients, St. Luke’s and the community. Dr. Zuckerman is known as a leader in the medical community and has co-authored multiple scholarly articles in medical publications.
  • Dr. Jennifer Shalz, medical director of St. Luke’s Heart Health and Rehabilitation, received the Award of Excellence in Patient Care. Dr. Shalz has a strong interest in lifestyle medicine and enjoys working with patients to help them make lifestyle changes (modifications in diet and adapting an exercise program) which leads to improved health.
  • Kathy Moore was regional chief executive officer and vice-president of acute care at St. Luke’s Health System until her retirement in early 2018. She received the Special Recognition of Retirement to recognize her longtime commitment to St. Luke’s, where she helped lead significant initiatives that ultimately improved patient care.
  • Randy Andrews, a volunteer for the St. Luke’s Treasure Valley Auxiliary, received the Leader of Volunteer Excellence (LOVE) award for more than 19 years of volunteer service. Within that time he has logged more than 3,600 hours of volunteer service.
