Community institution Idaho Power and tireless children’s cheerleader Kami Faylor have been selected to receive the 2017 Luke Award in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to leadership and philanthropy.

Announced Jan. 19 at St. Luke’s Boise, the award is presented annually by the St. Luke’s Health Foundation and St. Luke's Children's Advisory Board in honor of individuals and businesses or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to fundraising efforts for St. Luke’s Children's Hospital.

Faylor first became acquainted with volunteer opportunities at St. Luke's when she was invited to join the Children’s Advisory Board in 2005. With the support of her family and her employer, Micron, she has championed children’s health care ever since.

Faylor served on the board from 2005 to 2014, sharing her fundraising expertise in leadership positions on the nominating, development and allocations committees before becoming board chair in 2012. As chair, she led the board to raise more than $2.2 million.

She also has dedicated many hours to volunteering for St. Luke's, is a regular participant at St. Luke's events and has encouraged friends and colleagues to join her volunteer efforts. In 2014, Faylor was selected as ambassador of Kid For A Night. Her efforts with Micron have resulted in more than $425,000 in charitable giving since 2000.
