The Boise Library!, in partnership with the St. Luke's Children's Hospital and the Idaho Commission for Libraries, is donating welcome packages to 500 babies born at St. Luke’s Boise.

The Library! downtown held a baby shower Monday evening, Sept. 15, to kick off the donations to new and expectant parents. Participants enjoyed cake, games, crafts and a story hour with MaxWell Moose puppeteer Aaron Olson, a St. Luke's Human Resources employee, and his daughter, Madelyn Olson. Welcome packages include a book, a tote bag, baby's first library card, a book of rhymes, songs and fingerplays, literacy information and reading tips.  The event and the packages stress the importance of reading.

Parents at St. Luke's Boise also received welcome packages on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

St. Luke's Boise will be decorating the window in the nursery with baby books and the message of Born to Read.
