Today's Heart Tip: Walk

Annalee Mangum, RN
Clinical Supervisor, 3 Telemetry Unit
St. Luke’s Boise
By Anna Fritz, Health and Wellness
February 11, 2014

Walk your heart out. Whether you go with a partner, a pet, or on your own, brisk walking is one of the easiest ways to boost your overall health. It increases your heart rate, strengthens your heart, and improves blood circulation, carrying more oxygen and nutrients to your organs. It also increases lung capacity, lowers blood pressure and body fat, and improves blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Annalee's heart advice: “Get up, eat a good breakfast, and do something you enjoy. Find joy in the small things.”

February is Heart Month, so kick start your best year yet with 28 days of heart health. Every day in February St. Luke’s will send a heart health tip directly to your email. It’s easy to subscribe!

We’re also offering Free Heart Seminars throughout the month. Click here to find one in your area.
