    Biography

    Herb Alexander, MD specializes in sports medicine, fractures, and arthroscopic surgery. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School, where he was a participant in the Honors Program in Medical Education and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

    During a distinguished Naval career, he served as orthopedic specialty advisor to the Surgeon General of the Navy and attained the faculty rank of Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (a position he still holds). Dr. Alexander served as chairman and director of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Training Program at the Naval Medical Center in Oakland, where he held the rank of Captain, Medical Corps, United States Navy. 

    After serving nearly 27 years on active duty in the Navy, he moved to Sun Valley in 2002 and opened Alexander Orthopaedics with his wife, Dr. Charlotte Alexander. He has served as chief of surgery, chief of staff, and a member of the board of directors at St. Luke’s Wood River. He has an intense interest in computer technology and how it can enhance the quality of medical care. Having established a totally electronic office, he is a recognized authority and has been an invited speaker and lecturer to numerous societies on computerization in medicine.

    Dr. Alexander has published more than 60 manuscripts and chapters in the medical literature and serves as associate editor-in-chief of The American Journal of Orthopedics. He has given more than 300 presentations, participated in numerous national and international medical education seminars as faculty and lecturer, and is an examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Still maintaining an interest in the military and military medicine, Dr. Alexander sits on the Board of the Society of Medical Consultants to the Armed Forces (he currently is president), a brain trust of former high-ranking military medical officers who provide advice and counsel to the Surgeons General of the Navy, Army, and Air Force. 

    He is also an admissions representative (Blue and Gold Officer) of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2008, he received the John R. Seal, MD Award from the Society of Medical Consultants to the Armed Forces in recognition of outstanding contributions to military medicine through research, patient care, service to the Surgeons General, and active participation in the affairs of the Society.

    Dr. Alexander is a principal and founding member of MDReview, an organization that provides independent external medical peer review to hospitals and medical staffs.

    Jeffrey Boyer, MD received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Boyer completed a fellowship specializing in surgery of the hand and upper extremity. During his training he spent time in India studying microsurgery with experts in this field. Dr. Boyer holds memberships in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

    Biography

    Anthony M. Buoncristiani, MD, FAAOS (“Dr. Tony”) is dual-board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Tony’s expertise involves the comprehensive management of knee and shoulder injuries/disorders and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. He routinely performs trauma surgery and management of all musculoskeletal disorders, both pediatric and adult.

    Locally, he provides medical coverage for the Sun Valley Suns hockey team, the Wood River football team, and the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation ski team. Dr. Tony implemented the Wood River Valley’s concussion management program (ImPACT) which is being used by all local sports programs and the Blaine County School District. He often speaks at conferences, has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has been a contributor to several books.

    Dr. Tony is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Medicine and served five years of active duty in the United States Navy as a flight surgeon. He is the recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal and the prestigious Air Medal for participating in a humanitarian evacuation operation in Eritrea/Ethiopia. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington, and his sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh under the direction of Dr. Freddie Fu and Dr. Christopher Harner. During his fellowship, Dr. Tony was the assistant team physician for the Division I Pittsburgh Panthers football team and the Pittsburgh Penguins professional hockey team.

    In his free time, Dr. Tony enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his wife and three children.

    Jesse Chlebeck, MD is an orthopedic surgeon with training in orthopedic trauma (fractures) and an interest in rodeo medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Association's Emerging Leaders Program.

    Prior to his medical education, Dr. Chlebeck earned his bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from the College of Idaho, where he was on the ski team, ran cross country for the track and field team, and was a 10,000 meter Cascade Conference champion.

    Jason Daley, PA-C works with sports medicine patients, supporting sports medicine surgeon, Dr. James Beckmann. Jason has special interest in fracture management and often assists surgeons in the operating room. He truly enjoys helping patients get through their injuries so they can get back to doing what they love.

    Jason was born and raised in Boise and received his bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of Idaho. He completed his master's degree in physician assistant studies at A.T. Still University, with focused training in sports medicine and pediatric orthopedics. In his free time, Jason enjoys running, mountain biking and spending time with his wife, kids, and dog.

    Justin Dazley, MD specializes in spinal surgery. He has special interest in diseases and conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine due to deformity, trauma, and degenerative causes. Dr. Dazley completed his spinal surgery fellowship at Harvard University-Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

    Jeffrey "Jake" Griggs, PA-C provides care for all orthopedic issues with a focus on knee and hip osteoarthritis. He earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Boise State University. He earned his master's degree in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University while working as an athletic trainer for the Sun Devils' wrestling and football teams. He completed his physician assistant training at the University of Utah.

    Biography

    Greg Irvine, MD retired from surgery and emergency care on April 1, 2022. He continues to see patients in the clinic and conducts orthopedic evaluations and consults.

    Originally from northern Michigan, Dr. Irvine was part of the Inteflex Combined Pre-medical/Medical School Program's first class at the University of Michigan, where he also completed his general surgery residency. He joined the orthopedic surgery faculty as an assistant professor of surgery. He also served as the attending surgeon at Wayne County General Hospital and the co-director of sports medicine at University Hospital. 

    He was soon recruited to join a busy trauma and joint replacement practice at the Portland Orthopedic Clinic. He also led the level I orthopedic trauma service at Emanuel Hospital. During this time, he served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, holding that position for more than twenty years.

    While on vacation in McCall, looking at possible retirement destinations, he thought McCall could use an orthopedic surgeon, considering the ample year-round recreation opportunities nearby.

    In 2011, Dr. Irvine began practicing at St. Luke’s McCall. Through his leadership and collaboration with local leadership, a comprehensive orthopedic surgical program was developed, most notably a robust total joint replacement program that serves patients throughout the area.

    Tyson R. Jakobson, PA-C, MPAS has been working in hand and wrist orthopedics for over a decade. During this time, he has trained with five board-certified orthopedic hand surgeons to build a practice of non-operative and minimally invasive treatments for hand and wrist pathologies. Tyson enjoys evaluating new patients, developing treatment plans to support fast recovery, and following up to ensure successful outcomes. He frequently manages conditions such as trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, Dupuytren's disease, ganglion cyst, and hand and thumb osteoarthritis. He also cares for injuries to the hand and wrist such as fractures and injuries to tendons, nerves, and ligaments. He has a passion for treating Dupuytren's disease with non-operative Xiaflex® treatments.

    Tyson is on adjunct faculty with Touro University Nevada and Idaho State University physician assistant programs. He is also a clinical preceptor to physician assistant students throughout the year. Tyson graduated high school in Caldwell, earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Boise State University, and worked with the Bogus Basin Ski Patrol for two seasons prior to completing his physician assistant master’s degree at Touro University Nevada. 

    Tyson is very active and enjoys adventures with his family, boating, snowmobiling, mountain biking and snow skiing. He loves coaching his sons in their sports endeavors as well, including lacrosse, basketball, baseball, soccer and football.

    Biography

    Alison R. Kinsler, MD, FAAOS specializes in sports medicine, shoulder surgery, and general orthopedics, including fracture care. She treats both adult and pediatric patients. Her surgical specialties include a spectrum of shoulder surgeries including shoulder replacements (both reverse and anatomic) and arthroscopic procedures to treat rotator cuff, labrum and biceps tendon disorders. Dr. Kinsler also has expertise in knee surgery including ACL tears, meniscus repairs, cartilage restoration, patella instability, and multi-ligamentous knee injuries.

    Dr. Kinsler earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Old Dominion University, where she was also a Division I soccer player. After completing her medical school training at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia, she then completed her residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center while on active duty. She served in the US Army as an orthopedic surgeon finishing her military career as a major with nine years of service. Prior to joining St. Luke’s, Dr. Kinsler practiced at William Beaumont Army Medical Center where she trained orthopedic residents in advanced sports medicine surgery and was responsible for sports medicine curriculum for resident education.

    Kenneth T. Lindley, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery. He also has expertise in wrist and elbow arthroscopy and complex wrist and elbow trauma, including fracture care, elbow replacement, and tendon and ligament injuries. Dr. Lindley believes in providing patients with information and assisting them in making informed decisions regarding their care, which in some cases may include non-operative management. His goal is to help patients achieve their pre-injury level of activity.

    Dr. Lindley earned bachelor’s degrees in zoology and chemistry from Weber State University, also playing on their Division I tennis team. He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he also served as chief resident and provided medical support for the university's varsity football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and swimming teams. Dr. Lindley also completed fellowship training through the Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Triangle Orthopaedic Associates in Durham, North Carolina. During this time, he supported the varsity basketball and soccer teams at Campbell University.

    In his free time, Dr. Lindley continues to play tennis and also enjoys golf, basketball, and coaching his children’s basketball teams.

    Biography

    Jedediah May, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex total joint arthroplasty of the hip, knee, and shoulder. Skilled in cutting-edge arthroplasty techniques, Dr. May's surgical interests include minimally invasive partial knee replacement, mini posterior and direct anterior hip replacement surgery; complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery; hip preservation surgery; and both primary and reverse total shoulder replacement surgeries.

    After his residency, Dr. May spent a year at the Mayo Clinic doing clinical research in their Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He also completed a year of fellowship training in adult reconstruction and orthopedic trauma surgery at the University of Otago. 

    Dr. May has numerous peer-reviewed journal publications focusing on blood conservation in joint replacement surgery, joint replacement techniques and minimally invasive surgeries to improve patient function and expedite recovery, as well as advanced technologies in joint replacement.

    Rohn Tyler McKee, DO treats pediatric, teen, and adult patients. He specializes in arthritis and osteoporosis, and treats all aspects of orthopedics. Dr. McKee earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and completed his internship and residency at Ohio University, Doctors Hospital.

    Jason Sea Phillips, PA-C is certified physician assistant who works closely with Dr. Jedidiah May, assisting him in clinic and during surgeries, providing adult reconstruction and orthopedic trauma services to the patients of the Magic Valley and surrounding regions. He has special interest in wilderness medicine and is working toward becoming a fellow in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine through the Wilderness Medicine Society. 

    Jason is currently an adjunct faculty member and clinical instructor at Midwestern University. He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery.  

    Originally from Detroit, Jason is a veteran of the United States Army where he was trained as a medic as well as an orthopedic technologist. He received his bachelor's degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and earned a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University.  

    In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and mixed martial arts.

    Biography

    Dr. Kaleb Redden DO, ABFP, CAQSM, CRP is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician specializing in non-operative management of orthopedic injury in pediatric and adult patients including shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, wrist, ankle, neck and back injuries. He also has special training in the use of ultrasound for diagnostic and interventional purposes, including minimally invasive procedures and targeted injections. Along with treatment of both acute and chronic injury, Dr. Redden is highly trained in sports performance and sports nutrition with a special interest in fitness. He is also a certified ring-side physician and combat sports medicine specialist currently serving as the deputy commissioner and chief medical officer for the Idaho Athletic Commission. 

    Dr. Redden is one of the team physicians for Mountain View High School, local Idaho rodeos, Idaho Steelheads semi-professional hockey, UFC MMA, Bellator MMA, Kaged Muscle Fitness (which includes professional MMA fighters), Olympic gymnasts, collegiate and professional football players, professional power lifters, and bodybuilders. 

    Dr. Redden completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute where he cared for athletes connected to Boise State University, Capital High School, and the Onward Shay marathon, as well as fighters with the UFC and Kaged Muscle Athletes. He served as a chief resident at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho and was the founder and president of the sports medicine club for his medical school, Pacific Northwest University of Health Science. He completed his bachelor's degrees in exercise science and chemistry at Utah State University, where he also competed as a student athlete. 

    Dr. Redden is married with three children. In his free time, he enjoys lifting weights and spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, mountain biking, playing sports, and riding motorcycles. His favorite quote is: ”There is no substitute for strength and no excuse for lack of it.”

    David Verst, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery, serving both the Sun Valley and Twin Falls areas. In an effort to provide safe and accurate outcomes for his patients, Dr. Verst has partnered with Mazor Robotics and incorporated the Renaissance Guidance System in his practice.

    Dr. Verst received his medical degree from University of Louisville School of Medicine before moving on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery. Following his residency, he completed a spine fellowship at San Francisco Spine Institute focusing on complex spinal diseases affecting the nervous system.

    Dr. Verst is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the North American Spine Society and the American Medical Association. He has also served as chairman of orthopedic surgery at St. Luke's Wood River. Dr. Verst has published several articles in peer review journals that relate to spine care.
