Gynecologic Oncology

The Gynecologic Oncology program at St. Luke's Cancer Institute is dedicated to ensuring the highest level of care for patients with gynecologic malignancies, such as ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. We also treat patients with complex benign conditions. Our surgeons have extensive expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery and will collaborate with other St. Luke's Cancer Institute specialists and your primary care provider every step of the way.

    Biography

    Amy Cooper, MD has multiple clinical interests, including cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, vulvar cancer and melanoma, vaginal cancer, ovarian cancer, gestational trophoblastic disease, and dysplasia/hyperplasia.

    • Laparoscopic, open, and robotic (da Vinci®) surgeries
    • Laparoscopic and robotic (da Vinci) hysterectomies and staging procedures
    • Laparoscopic and robotic radical hysterectomies and staging procedures
    • Ovarian cancer cytoreductive surgery
    • Pelvic exenteration with bladder and neo-vagina reconstruction
    • Radical vulvectomy with myocutaneous flap reconstruction

    Misty Neisen, PA-C specializes in surgical oncology. She is certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. 

    Misty earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Boise State University and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Idaho State University. She is an avid outdoors person, and loves biking, hiking, and rafting in Idaho with her family.

    Gerardo (Jerry) Perez, MD has clinical interest in cervical and endometrial cancer, vulvar cancer and melanoma, vaginal and ovarian cancer, dysplasia/hyperplasia, and gestational trophoblastic disease.

    Christine Tumanjan, PA-C is certified in performing colposcopies. She earned her bachelor's degree in education and human development from Boston College, and her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Idaho State University.

  • Gynecologic Oncology

    Biography

    Taylor B. Turner, MD, MS is a gynecologic oncologist with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, chemotherapy, the genetic risks, and management of gynecologic cancers.

    Prior to his medical education, Dr. Turner earned a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology and a master’s degree in genetics and biotechnology, both from Brigham Young University. He has published articles on the surgical management and the genetic and immunologic contributors to ovarian cancer. Also having published in the scientific literature on physician wellness, Dr. Turner has an active interest in burnout and wellness and serves on the St. Luke’s Treasure Valley Wellness Committee.

    Dr. Turner has been awarded multiple teaching awards, including the Duke Appleseed Teaching award, and the UAB Medical Student and UAB Best Teaching Fellow awards. He continues to participate in medical education by teaching medical students through the WWAMI Medical Education Program and is a clinical faculty member of the University of Washington Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

    He is an active member in the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, serving on the Wellness Taskforce, the SGO Education Committee E-Learning Maintenance Group, and the SGO Practice Survey Taskforce. He was on the Program Committee that organized the 2020 SGO Annual Meeting.

    Dr. Turner lives in Boise with his family and together they enjoy skiing, boating, and camping.
