Implantable Loop Recorders

What is an implantable loop recorder?

Implantable loop recorders track the electrical activity of the heart, continuously storing information in memory as electrocardiograms (ECGs). Abnormal activity such as arrhythmia or irregular heartbeats are recorded for later review.

How does the device record heart activity?

Recording can be activated in two ways. Recording may be activated automatically according to heart rate ranges previously defined and set in the device by the physician. The second method is controlled by the patient when they notice symptoms.

How is the recorded data used?

The data is used as a diagnostic tool and also enables remote monitoring of patients.
