St. Luke’s Hospice to Participate in Medicare Care Choices Model

July 24, 2015

St. Luke’s Hospice has been selected to participate in a new pilot program that will enable Medicare beneficiaries to receive palliative and curative care concurrently.

Eligible hospices from throughout the country were invited to apply to participate in the model. More than 140 Medicare-certified hospices will be part of the model, and up to 150,000 eligible Medicare Beneficiaries receiving services from participating hospices can experience this new option. Those beneficiaries include people with advanced cancers, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, and human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.

St. Luke’s is the only Idaho participant, and the area of focus is within the western region of St. Luke’s Hospice. Services under this new model will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2016.

For additional information on the model or list of participating hospices, visit the Medicare Care Choices Model and the Medicare Care Choices Model Awards.
