About Joshua G. Barton

Biography

Joshua G. Barton, MD is Idaho's only liver and pancreas (HPB) surgery fellowship-trained surgeon. He is also the medical director of St. Luke's Clinic – Center for Pancreatic and Liver Diseases and fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His specialty is the surgical treatment of pancreatic, biliary, liver, and stomach diseases as well as bariatric surgery including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. He also has extensive experience using the daVinci surgical robot. 

Dr. Barton actively participates in several professional organizations, including the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Pancreas Club, and the American Hepato-Biliary Association.

Dr. Barton is originally from Texas and was raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from the University of Texas – Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma. He obtained additional training in hepato-pancreato-biliary and advanced GI surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
