Cancer treatment can be especially scary for kids. Doctors, parents, and caregivers do all they can to ease a child’s fears. Research shows music therapy can help too. It may lower anxiety and help take your child’s mind off treatment and pain. It may also help your child express fear and anger, and give him or her confidence to perform and create. Our board-certified therapists will work with your child one-on-one. Family members are encouraged to participate.
Our Music for Healing program brings music into the adult patient care environment to offer comfort and promote relaxation. Volunteer musicians, trained by our staff to provide the healing gift of music, share their talents in the St. Luke’s MSTI lobby and chemotherapy infusion center in Boise, as well as in our Boise hospital’s inpatient oncology unit.
