  • My 72-year-old mother was under Dr. Whiteside’s care for epilepsy for the past 3.5 years, and unfortunately, her experience was deeply disappointing and concerning. During that time, her mobility and overall health declined by approximately 85%. She suffered severe and very frequent seizures, leading to over 10 hospitalizations. Despite this significant and ongoing decline, Dr. Whiteside made little to no effort to adjust her treatment plan. Her medication was rarely changed, a second medication, commonly standard for managing this condition, was never introduced, and no testing was ordered to determine where in the brain her seizures were originating. Beyond the lack of medical intervention, the level of care during appointments was equally troubling. My mother was often ignored, with minimal eye contact or engagement unless interns were present. Her concerns were consistently dismissed. When my sisters and I attended appointments to advocate for her, we were met with the same lack of attention and urgency. There was no sense that her worsening condition was being taken seriously. It’s heartbreaking to think that other patients who are vulnerable and in need of proper neurological care may be experiencing similar neglect. Thankfully, my mother is now under the care of a new neurologist who immediately took the time to fully understand her condition. He quickly added a secondary medication and ordered the appropriate testing to identify the source of her seizures so they can be properly treated. He was, quite frankly, appalled at the lack of care she had previously received. I would strongly urge others to carefully consider their options when seeking neurological care.

  • It was very pleasant. Dr. Whiteside went through my medical history and checked me over. He made sure that he covered all of my concerns.
