Certified Genetic Counselor
Katie Riefski, MS, CGC provides genetic counseling services before, during, and after pregnancies. She is passionate about helping people investigate their family health histories, navigate the genetic testing process, and understand and adapt to the implications of a genetic diagnosis during pregnancy. Katie has a special interest in communicating to health care providers and patients about the advanced genetic screening and diagnostic options available in preconception and prenatal periods. Most of all, Katie values building relationships with her patients, giving them space to share their stories, and being a source of support during challenging times.
Katie is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the State of Idaho. Prior to working at St. Luke's, Katie earned her bachelor's degree in biology (genetics and biotechnology) from the University of Iowa, with minors in social work and health and the human condition. She earned her master's degree from The Ohio State University's Genetic Counseling Program.
Katie was born and raised in the Midwest, and is looking forward to learning more about the beauty that Idaho has to offer. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, reading, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
