Dirk Carlson, MD emphasizes care of the whole patient and the doctor-patient relationship as one of the most important parts of medicine. He enjoys the continuity of patients whom he has delivered and now continues to follow — often as their primary care physician — and he continues to love the practice of obstetrics, regardless of what time of day the stork arrives. Dr. Carlson delivers babies at St. Luke's Boise.
Originally from Alabama, Dr. Carlson served with the U.S. Air Force at Mountain Home Air Force Base, giving him his first exposure to southern Idaho. After completing his commitment to the Air Force, he and his family returned to the South for three years before returning to Boise. In his spare time, Dr. Carlson enjoys reading, golf, gardening, and cross country skiing with his wife, and spending time with their three children.
