Antepartum Care

Comfort, Safety and Care While You're on Bed Rest

At the Antepartum Care Unit at St. Luke's Boise, our goal is to make you feel at home while you remain on bed rest. We never lose sight of this important fact: every day we help a woman hold onto her pregnancy may save her baby three days in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Women are admitted to the Antepartum Unit for a variety of reasons, from diabetes to premature labor to carrying multiples, and our team does whatever it takes to help women and their families feel at ease.

What to Expect

Activities and Amenities Focus on Your Well-being

Spending up to eight weeks in bed when you’re not sick means distractions truly make a difference. We provide room service, craft classes, massage sessions, large-screen TVs, DVDs, Internet service, family lounge, and “Education in a Bag” pre- and post-natal learning.

Patients can have visits from St. Luke’s pet therapy dogs (ask your nurse!), in addition to visits from their own furry family members.

  • Smiling young pregnant woman talks with her doctor

Access to Specialists Maternal Fetal Medicine Experts Nearby

A maternal fetal medicine (MFM) procedure room is adjacent to the antepartum unit, providing convenience for patients, staff, and St. Luke’s MFM physicians who specialize in treating women with high-risk pregnancies.

Tender Care for Fragile Beginnings

Caring for our tiniest patients is a big job. Our newborn intensive care teams are dedicated to the delicate physical, emotional, and developmental needs of premature and severely ill infants, some of whom weigh just over one pound.

At our NICUs at St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise, St. Luke's Magic Valley, St. Luke's Meridian and St. Luke's Nampa, you'll find TLC for the babies, as well as the parents that love them.
