People Who Avoid Colorectal Cancer Death Over 30 Years Because of Screening

With the FIT stool test, about 13 to 14 out of 1,000 people who had screening avoided death from colorectal cancer over 30 years, compared with people who did not have any screening. With colonoscopy, about 13 to 14 out of 1,000 people who had screening avoided death from colorectal cancer over 30 years, compared with people who did not have any screening.

All of the screening tests work well to lower your risk of dying from colorectal cancer. No matter what test you choose, regular testing can find cancer early, when the cancer may be easier to treat.
