Diabetes Prevention

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is now open to St. Luke's employees, spouses, and dependents 18 and older. Diabetes prevention is a 12-month program for those at risk of type 2 diabetes.

Program Goals

Reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week.

Program Components

  • Group classes led by a trained lifestyle coach
  • 16 weekly sessions over the first four months
  • Bi-monthly/monthly maintenance sessions for the remaining eight months
  • Four months of YMCA membership

Take an online prediabetes assessment to see if you qualify.


  • $429 for new members
  • $329 for current YMCA members

St. Luke's employees and spouses enrolled in the St. Luke's Health System Employee Health Care Plan with a BMI of 30 or higher can qualify for up to $200 in rebates upon successful completion of the following requirements. (Dependents are ineligible for rebates.)

  • Tier 1: $100 if you attend 14 of the first 16 class sessions
  • Tier 2: $100 at the end of the program if you attend 21 of the 25 total classes
