Our team specializes in treatment of peripheral vascular disease or disorders of the circulatory system outside of the brain and heart. Another name for this condition is arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, which can cause narrowing and blockages of blood vessels.

Common vascular surgery may include carotid endarterectomy for stroke risk reduction, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic bypass surgery for narrowing or occlusion, lower extremity bypass surgery, or lower extremity aneurysm repair.

    Biography

    Wilmer T. Jones, MD is chief of staff at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Clinical Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, and the Rocky Mountain Vascular Surgery Society.

    Prior to his medical education, Dr. Jones earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Military Institute, where he was valedictorian and a distinguished graduate. Later, he served 26 years in the Air Force as a pilot and surgeon, retiring at the rank of colonel.

    Additionally, Dr. Jones was president of the Texas Vascular Surgery Society and has held academic appointments at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio; and the United Services Health Science University.
