Melissa Agoudemos, MD, PhD specializes in pediatric cardiology with a broad range of interests including neonatal congenital heart disease, myocarditis, Marfan’s syndrome and other connective tissue disorders, and arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). She has additional interest in echocardiographic evaluation of congenital heart disease utilizing transthoracic echo and fetal echo.
Dr. Agoudemos received a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering with a concentration in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, where she graduated with honors and as a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. She then entered the specialized Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin to earn both her medical degree and a doctorate degree in physiology. During that time, she spent extensive time researching the process by which the body grows new blood vessels (angiogenesis). This led to multiple awards from the American Physiological Society.
Dr. Agoudemos completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Iowa, a referral center focused on treating the most critical pediatric patients across Iowa. Her residency included a specialized research track where she focused on the effects of maternal disease on the cardiovascular health of children. This was followed by a three-year pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa. During this time, she continued her research and won the F. M. Kenny Memorial Award in Pediatric Research. Clinically, Dr. Agoudemos developed her interest in imaging with extra training in echocardiography.
Dr. Agoudemos is originally from the Midwest, and spent her early career working at Southern Illinois University. Now that she's in Idaho, she never plans to leave! She feels honored to provide specialized pediatric cardiac care to the children of Idaho.
In her free time, Dr. Agoudemos enjoys spending time with her two teenagers, three cats, and husband.
Scott G. Erpelding, MD treats all aspects of adult urology, and has a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of men's health issues, including erectile dysfunction, BPH (enlarged prostate), and reconstructive urology. He has additional training in penile implants and artificial urinary sphincters.
He is skilled in da Vinci® robotic surgery for BPH, urologic malignancies, and reconstructive urology, and uses both percutaneous and ureteroscopic approaches for the management of kidney stones.
Karen Galvan, MD is a general surgeon whose practice includes laparoscopic procedures, breast surgery, upper and lower endoscopies, wound care, skin biopsies, and excisions. She welcomes questions from referring practitioners and is dedicated to providing excellent surgical care to her patients in partnership with their primary care providers.
Dr. Galvan is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Cody Heiner, MD, MPH, FACOEM is the site medical director of St. Luke's Occupational Health and is board certified in occupational and environmental medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Heiner is also a certified medical review officer and provides comprehensive health-related services for employers and employees, including work injury medical care, drug and alcohol testing, employee physicals, disability evaluations, impairment ratings, and immunizations.
In addition to his medical education, Dr. Heiner earned his masters' degree in public health from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Jamie Knapp, PA-C is a certified physician assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Jamie earned her bachelor's degree in health science from Boise State University, and her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Jefferson College of Health Sciences. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and the outdoors.
Dave Landis, PA-C brings over 20 years of experience to St. Luke’s Occupational Health. Before coming to St. Luke’s Occupational Health in 2013 he practiced in adult medicine, urgent care and dermatology. Dave graduated from the University of Washington’s physician assistant program in 1995 and served in the Idaho National Guard for almost 10 years.
Hala Rafla, PA-C joined St. Luke’s Occupational Health in 2011. Prior to joining St. Luke’s she worked for the Department of Health and Welfare focusing on immunizations. She studied medicine and surgery overseas where she worked in women’s health and urgent care. Hala holds a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Idaho State University as well as a master in health sciences from Boise State University.
Michael B. Taylor, MD treats all aspects of adult urology, including kidney stones, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and urinary incontinence. He has a special interest in benign prostatic hyperplasia, where he has specialized training in greenlight photovaporization, Rezum™, and the UroLift® procedures as alternatives to drugs or more invasive therapies.
Dr. Taylor received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University where he graduated summa cum laude. He then went to medical school at the University of California, Irvine where he was elected part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his urology residency at the University of Utah and is a member of the American Urologic Association.
