St. Luke's in the Ontario Community

Ontario, Oregon, is a historic railroad town just across the Snake River from Fruitland, Idaho. It’s home to Treasure Valley Community College and the Four Rivers Cultural Center, which celebrates the diverse heritage of the region: Native American, European, Basque, Japanese, and Hispanic. 

St. Luke’s serves the people of Ontario from the new St. Luke’s Fruitland Medical Plaza, St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute in Fruitland, as well as an Idaho Elks Hearing and Balance Center in Ontario itself.

          Rafael Arteta-Bulos, MD is fellowship trained in oncology/hematology. He earned his medical degree in Lima, Peru, where he also earned his master’s degree in health policy. He completed his internal medicine residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

          Erika Blanchard, CCC-A, F-AAA manages the audiology program at St. Luke’s with a focus on quality program development and compliance. She specializes in pediatric and adult diagnostics and amplification, and is a pediatric audiology mentor and educator for pediatric audiologists across the country.

          Erika is the network audiologist with National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management for the Pacific Northwest and the audiology coordinator for Idaho Sound Beginnings, Idaho's Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology with an emphasis in developmental disabilities and teaching English as a second language from the University of Nevada, Reno. She completed her postgraduate studies in audiology at Idaho State University.

          Biography

          Jennifer Eichmeyer, MS, LCGC is an American Board of Genetic Counseling certified genetic counselor. She is the lead genetic counselor for the St. Luke's MSTI Genetic Counseling Program specializing in oncology genetics.

          Jennifer is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors as well as the American College of Genetics and Genomics. She earned her bachelor’s degree in genetics from Iowa State University with a master’s degree in genetic counseling from University of Texas Health Science Center.  

          Jennifer was involved in the development of a High Risk Breast Clinic, NICU genetics, implementation of universal screening for Lynch syndrome, and telehealth genetic counseling services. She was awarded the ACCCP Innovator award in 2013, St. Luke’s President’s award in 2014, and the ISCO Thomas M. Beck recognition award in 2016. Jennifer has published several original research articles and presented posters at numerous national genetics conferences. She continues to be interested in using the unique skill set of genetics professionals in non-traditional ways to improve access to and understanding of genetic information.

          Linda L. Erlandson, RN, MSN, FNP works in medical oncology/hematology. She is nationally certified as a family practice nurse practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center, and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She earned her master's degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Boise State University and his master's degree in molecular biology from the University of Idaho. He earned his physician assistant degree from Idaho State University.

          Jerrimi Helmick, RN, MN, FNP-C works in radiation oncology. She is board certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She earned her associate's degree in nursing from Treasure Valley Community College, and her master's degree in nursing, family nurse practitioner, from Oregon Health & Science University.

          Elizabeth LeFevre, MHS, RD, CSO, LD is board certified in oncology nutrition and has a passion for not only helping treat patients for cancer, but helping them on the road to health after they have completed treatment.

          Elizabeth earned her bachelor's degree in dietetics from Brigham Young University, and her master's degree in health science from Boise State University.

          Biography

          Sam Peterson AuD, F-AAA earned his bachelor’s degree in zoology from Idaho State University, where he also earned his doctorate degree in audiology. He completed his doctoral externship in southern New Mexico at a private practice that specializes in diagnostic audiometric testing for adults and children, hearing aid assessment and fitting, and ear wax removal. While in graduate school, Dr. Peterson’s capstone project focused on techniques for better assessing middle ear function, to assist in more accurate identification and treatment of middle ear disorders.

          Dr. Peterson enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He is the proud father of three children, and enjoys watching football and exercising in his spare time.

          Carmen Schmidt, MPT is certified in vestibular rehabilitation. She is dedicated to problem-solving and helping patients overcome balance and dizziness concerns. She has earned vestibular competency, vestibular function testing competency, and advanced vestibular competency. She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

          Carmen earned her master’s degree in physical therapy from Idaho State University.

          Christine Wallace, AuD, CCC-A has special interest in aural rehabilitation and central auditory processing disorders. She earned her bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from Northwest Nazarene University, her master’s degree in audiology from Idaho State University, and her doctorate degree in audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences. She has been in practice in Ontario since 1995, at what was then Ontario Audiology and Hearing Aids, which later became the Idaho Elks Hearing and Balance Center.

          Monica Weston, MS, AuD, CCC-A/SLP is interested in pediatric and adult diagnostics, hearing aids, vestibular testing, and cochlear implant rehabilitation. She has worked as a speech language pathologist with children and currently specializes in aural rehabilitation and central auditory processing. 

          Monica earned her master's degree from the University of Utah and her doctorate from Utah State University. She completed her fellowship at the Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children in San Antonio.
