This class is for clinicians. nurses, providers, SW, Women's and Children's, addiction specialists.Speakers and Topics:Dr. Stacy Seyb, MD: Dr. Seyb is a physician with SLHS and is a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. He has supported this population for quite some time, making it much easier for patients in need to access care. He will be discussing both maternal and fetal risks and complications associated with polysubstance and opiate use, national and local data trends involving the pregnant population, co-management of patients with community treatment clinics, barriers to care for this patient population, and the importance of getting women in treatment during this timeframe.Dr. Mike Kaylor, MD: Dr. Kaylor is the executive medical director at Raise the Bottom, a substance use disorder treatment clinic in Boise. He will be discussing options for women who are pregnant regarding medication assisted therapy, withdrawal, risks and benefits of treatment, and specifics surrounding supportive needs for women during this time (counseling, therapy, etc…).Brandi Gallaher, LCSW: Brandi is a social worker at St Luke's with a background and experience in addiction. She will be talking about addiction science, neuro-chemical brain changes associated with addiction, specific risk factors for women regarding predisposition to addiction physically, mentally, and emotionally.
