In this workshop, we’ll discuss the beneficial use of simple movement and yoga postures to prepare for positions used in labor. Using movement in labor can help foster optimal fetal positioning and may lessen the length of labor.
Women will learn breath awareness and relaxation techniques helpful to cope with the intensity of contractions. These skills can help a woman in labor remain calm and confident, and can even alter her perception of pain.
Partners will learn various techniques to support a woman in labor, including the use of massage, hot and cold packs, staging the birth environment, and supportive language. No yoga experience is necessary.
