ALERT

Due to the overwhelming surge in COVID-19 cases and the strain it has placed on health care capacity in the communities we serve, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has activated crisis standards of care statewide. We are open and available to see patients, but you may experience delays at our ERs, hospitals, and clinics. We appreciate your patience. Access more info on COVID testing, vaccination, visitor policy, hospitalization data, and FAQs.

Description

Prepare your body and mind for the incredible experience of childbirth and parenting that will offer you tools to reduce the effects of stress, create a sense of peace, and provide an optimal growing environment for your baby. The earlier you start these practices, the more benefit you will receive throughout your pregnancy. In this four class series you will learn:

  • The anatomy and physiology of a normal birth
  • How to reduce the effects of stress
  • Meditative techniques that will help you prepare for birthing and parenting
  • How to cultivate a deeper connection to your body and your growing baby
  • To trust your body’s innate ability to give birth
  • How to envision your own birth environment to support the experience you desire.

Incorporating mindfulness-based techniques such as yoga, meditation and relaxation during pregnancy have been shown to be the best way to prepare for birth both physically and mentally, even if your pregnancy and labor require a higher level of intervention. These techniques help you and your baby’s immune systems and reduce stress which can affect a growing fetus—leading to complications and a more difficult birth.

Coming Back Together

As in-person classes and events at St. Luke's resume, we have new guidelines intended to help keep us all safe and healthy.

1. Registration is required. Registration will help us manage class sizes, which must not exceed room capacity. Please mention any accompanying family or support people in your registration.

2. Masks are required. Facilitators and participants need to wear masks at all times, regardless of your vaccination status. We will provide medical procedural masks at the door.

3. Everyone will need to use hand sanitizer when entering the classroom and after returning from any breaks.

4. We will no longer offer food or beverages. You may bring your own snacks and drinks to be enjoyed on breaks away from the classroom. We encourage you to take them outside and away from others if possible. You may drink your own water in classes lasting longer than an hour, but we you must still wear your mask between drinks.
