Former St. Luke’s Foundation Board Chairperson Darin DeAngeli and Houston Bugatsch Architects have been selected to receive the 2016 Luke Award in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to leadership, philanthropy, and fundraising efforts for the St. Luke’s Children's Hospital.

The award, presented Jan. 14 at St. Luke’s Boise, is presented annually by the St. Luke’s Health Foundation and St. Luke's Children's Advisory Board in honor of individuals and businesses or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to fundraising efforts for the Children's Hospital.

“To me, the Luke Award embodies the essential spirit of giving back to the community and to the kids,” says Tom Siegert, chairperson of the St. Luke's Children’s Advisory Board.

Darin DeAngeli

DeAngeli was invited to join the St. Luke’s Foundation Board in 1999. He was chairperson of the board from 2013 to 2014, and continues to serve today. Under his leadership, the St. Luke’s Health Foundation has raised more than $11 million.

As an inaugural member of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital Board, DeAngeli served from 2006 to 2010. He is currently a member of the St. Luke’s Treasure Valley Community Board and St. Luke’s Health System Board External Relations Committee.

His firm, Ahrens DeAngeli Law Group, has donated more than $75,000 to St. Luke’s Children’s since 1999. The firm has been a Kid For A Night sponsor for 16 consecutive years. Darin and his wife, Ann, have been donors to St. Luke’s since 1999.

DeAngeli earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boise State University and also attended the University of Oregon, where he earned a law degree and a master’s in business administration. DeAngeli and Ed Ahrens formed the law firm of Ahrens & DeAngeli, now Ahrens DeAngeli Law Group, in 1997.

A committee civic volunteer, DeAngeli has been involved in the Boise Public Schools Education Foundation, One Stone Champions, Children’s Home Society, Women’s and Children’s Alliance Endowment Committee, Bronco Athletic Association Planned Giving committee, and Idaho Veterans Research & Education Foundation.

Houston Bugatsch Architects has supported St. Luke’s Children’s for over 15 years as a sponsor, donor, and vendor.

Since 2004, Houston Bugatsch has donated more than $65,000 to St. Luke’s Children’s. The firm has supported various initiatives, including helping to fund the Pediatric Operating Areas, Technology Advancements, and the expansion of the Children’s Specialty Center in Boise.

Houston Bugatsch has sponsored several St. Luke’s Children’s events, including Scramble for the Kids and Kid For A Night.

Doug Houston, one of the founders of Houston Bugatsch, has been a member of the Children’s Advisory Board since 2001. He served as chairperson of the board from 2009 to 2011. Under his leadership, the Children’s Advisory Board raised more than $1.9 million for St. Luke’s Children’s and welcomed 2,000 guests to St. Luke’s fundraising events.

Houston Bugatsch employees have volunteered with numerous organizations, including The Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho, Nampa Head Start, Valley Crisis Center, Nampa Police Athletic League (PAL), and Valley Women & Children’s Shelter.
