Editor’s note: What follows is Dr. Pate’s letter to St. Luke’s Health System staff members as Thanksgiving approaches.

As we gather with our friends and families for Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude for you and all that you do for St. Luke’s and our patients and their families.

You inspire me, and you make me feel very proud to work alongside you and to be part of this extraordinary family that is St. Luke’s.

Over and over this past year, you have shared stories with me of the dedication and commitment of your colleagues and your own passion and enthusiasm for our organization. I’ve heard of heroics in our hospitals and in the communities we serve, service delivery above and beyond the call in our laundries and integrated health technology settings, and exceptional experiences delivered each and every day by housekeepers, gardeners, our facilities teams and all of our clinicians throughout St. Luke’s Health System.

Your acts of compassion over this past year – walks of respect, meticulous attention to process improvements, roadside rescues, thoughtful touches for patients and for each other – have moved me deeply.

Thanksgiving and every day, I am so honored to be part of the St. Luke’s family. You top my gratitude list.

Blessings and happy Thanksgiving to you all.
