Orthopedic Surgeon Educates Community about Healthy Hips and Knees

By Joy Prudek, News and Community
March 16, 2017

The Wood River Valley is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, and endless trails and scenic surroundings attract skiers, mountain bike riders, hikers and runners who want to embrace all the valley has to offer.

The physicians at St. Luke’s Clinic – Sun Valley Sports Medicine want to help people out of pain so they can return to enjoying sports and everyday life in this active community. St. Luke’s Wood River recently partnered with Zenergy to co-host a free presentation by Dr. Matthew Kopplin, who discussed hip and knee construction and replacement, and how he determines the best treatment options for his patients.

Joint replacement makes up about 80 percent of Dr. Kopplin’s practice, and he has performed thousands of replacement procedures. He performs several types of hip and knee operations and offers some newer techniques along with traditional procedures, depending on a patient’s anatomy, body shape and size as well as their physical activity.

Dr. Kopplin joined Dr. Alison Kinsler at St. Luke’s Clinic - Sun Valley Sports Medicine in spring 2016, moving to the Wood River Valley from Billings, MT where he practiced for 14 years and served as department chairperson of orthopedics. Dr. Kopplin and Dr. Kinsler specialize in joint replacement and in sports medicine.
