Participants in last year's Explore summer camp celebrate their last day of camp with a colored chalk explosion.
Creating new opportunities for children to live healthy lifestyles is the focus of two upcoming summer camps sponsored by St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and the Youth Engaged in Activities for Health (YEAH!) program.
The Explore summer camps will be held at Bogus Basin July 28 to Aug.1 and from Aug. 11 to 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The camp is for kids ages 9 to 14 who have a body mass index in the 85 percentile and up.
Explore summer camp will be filled with outdoor exploration activities, Iron Chef competitions, and individual and team skill building. Kids will make friends, learn about healthy lifestyle activities and nutrition.
Camp staff will include an exercise physiologist, dietitian, nurse, social worker and peer counselors.
The cost is $88.75 for Boise residents and $137.91 for non-residents. Scholarships to attend the camp are available. Transportation from Fort Boise to Bogus Basin will be provided each day, as well as lunch.
