Note from SelectHealth

By Dr. David C. Pate, News and Community
September 29, 2013

Editor's note: What follows is information from SelectHealth, an insurance company based in Utah that shares St. Luke's vision and values and which has partnered with St. Luke's to work toward the Triple Aim of better health, better care, and lower costs.

Healthcare is changing; our commitment is not.

Healthcare reform means more coverage for more people, but some people are intimidated and uncertain of how the changes will affect them. They don’t have to be.

For nearly 30 years, SelectHealth has been committed to providing access to high-quality health care, helping our community stay healthy, and offering superior service. This commitment is what has allowed us to stay focused on our members and community.

Next year, healthcare reform will require most Americans to have health insurance. This is known as the individual mandate. Today, health insurance marketplaces will open across the country to help individuals meet this requirement. They will act much like online superstores, allowing people to shop, compare, and purchase health plans that are right for them.

SelectHealth has a healthcare reform website to help people understand how they will be affected. Here, visitors can learn more about the recent changes to health care, use our free calculator to see if they qualify for an advanced premium tax credit, and compare and purchase health insurance plans.

We worked directly with Idaho’s health insurance marketplace, Your Health Idaho, to design health plans for everyone’s needs and budget. We have a greater variety of plans than any other carrier on the marketplace, and our 19 Individual plans and 15 small employer plans are competitively priced.

Our alliance with St. Luke’s allows us to offer a large provider network that includes St. Luke’s nationally recognized hospitals, facilities, and physicians. Many other providers also participate in our SelectHealth network.
