Former Women’s Fitness Celebration encourages families to participate in final starting wave of 5K run/walk

BOISE – August 14, 2013 – FitOne, formerly the Women’s Fitness Celebration has introduced a new 5K Family Wave, presented by Chobani. The 5K Family Wave (Orange Wave) will be the final starting wave of the 5K run/walk on September 21, 2013 in downtown Boise. The Family Wave is organized to accept all abilities, ages and genders, and registration is open to participate as an individual or on a team. A portion of proceeds will benefit St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital as the event’s title beneficiary.

“Chobani is committed to helping our local communities grow and thrive, while having fun at the same time,” said Kari Rands, local events coordinator for Chobani. “We’re passionate about fostering healthy lifestyles through fitness, and the FitOne 5K Family Wave is a perfect way for our community to help inspire younger generations to adopt healthy habits and discover enjoyment in physical activity.“

FitOne is committed to providing further opportunities to inspire women, children and families to become active participants of fun, healthy living – ultimately building healthier communities.

“I strongly believe health and lifestyle changes happen together as a family,” said Kristin Armstrong, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and Executive Director of Community Health for St. Luke’s Sports Medicine. “Now more than ever women are some of the strongest role models among their families and communities. As moms, girlfriends, sisters, daughters and wives, engaging our family in what we are doing to take healthier steps in our own lives, can make all the difference in the health and happiness of those closest to us.”

As the presenting sponsor of the FitOne 5K Family Wave, Chobani will be on-site at the 2-Day FitOne Expo September 19-20, and will provide a variety of their Greek Yogurt products for all FitOne participants at the Finish Line Party breakfast on Saturday, September 21.
