Elmore Medical Center Joins St. Luke's Health System

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho – Officials from St. Luke’s Health System and Elmore Medical Center have announced that effective April 1, Elmore Medical Center will join St. Luke’s Health System.

Over the last six months, representatives from both organizations have been working closely to prepare for the integration of Elmore Medical Center into St. Luke’s Health System.

The completion of this integration follows a May 2012 public vote in which nearly 75 percent of Elmore County residents approved the proposed alignment of Elmore Medical Center with St. Luke’s.

Prior to the integration, St. Luke’s Health System had a long-standing agreement to manage operations at the 25-bed hospital that serves Mountain Home and the surrounding communities.

“Elmore Medical Center has been providing care in this community since 1955, and it’s important we continue providing quality care close to home,” Elmore Medical Center CEO Greg L. Maurer said. “We’ve continued to grow to meet the demands of our community, and the decision to integrate with St. Luke’s will increase our ability to participate in initiatives that will further improve the health of the people we serve.”

Maurer, who has served as CEO of Elmore Medical Center for the last 11 years, will continue to provide executive leadership for St. Luke’s Elmore.

The hospital will also remain part of the county taxing district and will be governed by the St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center Board of Directors. A local community council will provide input in conjunction with the taxing district board.

“Elmore Medical Center is a valued resource to the community. It is clear that the hospital’s health care providers, employees, and volunteers care deeply about their community and the people they serve,” said David C. Pate, M.D., J.D., president and CEO of St. Luke’s Health System. “We’re excited to welcome Elmore Medical Center to the St. Luke’s family and we look forward to continuing the tradition of providing exemplary health care to the community.”

About Elmore Medical Center

The hospital was founded in Mountain Home in 1955 as a county hospital. In 1986 it became a tax district hospital when the voters in the county approved the creation of the Elmore County Hospital District in 1986. The Elmore Medical Center campus has grown over the years to include the long term care, Trinity Mountain Medical Clinic and Elmore Medical Center Specialty Clinic.
