MEDIA ALERT/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
WHAT: Through donations and grants St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital will be opening a new display just outside the entrance of its newborn intensive care unit (NICU). In the hallway leading to the entrance a showcase of photos both printed and digitally of former NICU patients.
WHEN: Friday, Nov. 16, 2 p.m.
WHERE: St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), second floor, 190 E. Bannock St., Boise. Take main elevator to second floor and follow signs.
WHY: Parents of premature children often are overwhelmed by the challenges before them. The Hall of Hope was inspired by Tammy Allen, a St. Luke’s nurse practitioner, who sees the display as an opportunity to provide new hope for parents by showing them a future that may be possible for their baby. The display was made possible by a $25,000 grant from the St. Luke’s Auxiliary and through in-kind donations from the community including three local photographers who donated their time and talent to take photos of the NICU graduates. The unveiling of the Hall of Hope takes place this month which is also National Prematurity Awareness Month. According to the March of Dimes 1 in 8 babies are born prematurely.
VISUALS: The unveiling will kick off with some brief comments from Tammy Allen and NICU Medical Director Scott Snyder, followed by an unveiling of the photos by NICU graduates and their families. Following the unveiling, tours will be available to showcase the technology in the NICU. NICU graduates and their families will be available for interviews.

How do you define health? Physical? Mental? Social? Health goes beyond medical care. It's how we take care of ourselves, how we interact with our communities, how we take care of each other.
Let St. Luke's support your health, however you define it.
