Funding for the campaign is being provided by Kohl’s department store through a $77,883 grant. The grant is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one.
A Kohl’s representative presented Dr. Greg Janos, medical director of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital, with the grant at on Saturday, Dec. 1 during a winter safety fair at St. Luke's Nampa Health Plaza.
Funding from Kohl's will help support a 12-month awareness, education and distribution program call “Safety in a Snap!” The goal of the program will be teach children and their parents and/or caregivers the importance of “snapping” on either a helmet when riding a bike, skateboard or when participating in winter sports like skiing and sledding. Over the last five years, Kohl’s has donated nearly $300,000 to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital through Kohl’s Cares®.
