Boise, ID – The Boise Barnes & Noble store has collected more than 2,000 books during its annual Holiday Book Drive that it will present to representatives of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital on Dec. 30 during a free community story time scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Boise store, 1315 N. Milwaukee St.
The books were donated by Barnes & Noble customers and will be distributed to children being treated at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. As of December 27, customers have donated 2,048 books in the book drive, which continues through Jan. 1, 2011.
To mark the donation, Barnes & Noble invited representatives from St. Luke’s and local media outlets to read during the story time on Dec. 30. Guest readers for the event include:
Don Nelson, anchor from KIVI (Today’s 6) Television.
Dr. David Pate, CEO of St. Luke’s Health System.
Bev Holland, Administrator of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Gregory Janos, Executive Medical Director of St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
Carla Hart, school teacher for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital School.
Mary Walters, Clinical Supervisor St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
The guest readers will read a selection of classic children’s books such as “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Five Little Monkeys,” “Guess How Much I Love You,” and “Very Hungry Caterpillar.”
The event is free, and people who attend are encouraged to purchase a book to donate to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Media is welcome to cover this event.
Each year, Barnes & Noble stores across the country participate in the Holiday Book Drive. The drive is an opportunity for customers to donate books that go to local non-profit organizations. Holiday Book Drive recipients throughout the country include schools, libraries, literacy organizations, family social service agencies and homeless centers.

How do you define health? Physical? Mental? Social? Health goes beyond medical care. It's how we take care of ourselves, how we interact with our communities, how we take care of each other.
Let St. Luke's support your health, however you define it.
