Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Rules in St. Luke's, Saltzer Case

By Dr. David C. Pate, Health and Wellness
February 10, 2015

A note from St. Luke's President and CEO Dr. David Pate:

We received word this morning that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has supported the lower court’s ruling in the anti-trust case concerning St. Luke’s relationship with Saltzer Medical Group. We are extremely disappointed by this outcome. We will take some time to review the Ninth Circuit’s full decision and evaluate what the next steps might be.

Our job continues to be to work every day to provide better coordination of care and better outcomes for patients, while at the same time managing the costs of that care. There is a lot we can do, working in partnership with patients and providers. We think our collaborative approach is the path to a better health care system for Idahoans. While our business relationship with Saltzer Medical Group may need to change, our commitment to working with them and other providers throughout our communities to improve the way health care is delivered will not.
