Saturday is the 7th Annual Reading is Good Medicine Book Fair at Barnes & Noble in Boise. The annual event draws a large crowd and helps raise money for St. Luke's Children's
The Seventh Annual Reading is Good Medicine Book Fair benefitting St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is being held this Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble located at 1315 N. Milwaukee in Boise.
This fun event will be filled with activities from story time to craft and game stations to honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2.
In addition to these activities, the book fair will help raise money for the St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the hospital for children who are recovering from surgeries, diseases, and life threatening illnesses and their families.
St. Luke’s believes that if children are engaging in appropriate activities, such as reading, it can help them keep their minds off of being sick.
Again this year, St. Luke's therapy dogs will be visiting the book fair.
Various Children’s Hospital departments will be facilitating this event. These departments include the Pediatric Unit and the Prenatal Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Mother/Baby Unit, Children’s Specialty Center, the Emergency Department and Trauma Center, the Hospital School, Children at Risk Evaluation Services, the MSTI Pediatric Unit, the Birth and Parenting Center, Sleep Medicine Institute, and the ever popular Pet Therapy Program.
Story time will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with special guest readers including Director of Pediatrics at St. Luke’s, Belinda Day and St. Luke’s very own CEO, Dr. David Pate.
If you can’t make the event on Saturday, the book fair continues through March 7th and book purchases are available online using the Book Fair code: 11264959
Hope to see everyone on Saturday, ready to have fun and read!
Don’t forget, READING IS GOOD MEDICINE!
How do you define health? Physical? Mental? Social? Health goes beyond medical care. It's how we take care of ourselves, how we interact with our communities, how we take care of each other.
Let St. Luke's support your health, however you define it.
