Funding Priorities at St. Luke's Magic Valley Health Foundation

Your charitable gifts to St. Luke’s help purchase medical equipment, support wellness and prevention programs for all ages, and meet our patients' needs. You help us provide continuing education for hospital staff so they can continue offering high-quality care, and scholarships to nursing students who will stay and work in the Magic Valley.

Although our funding priorities shift over time, there are some areas that always have a need, including:

  • Children's health
  • Women's health
  • Cancer programs at St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI)
  • Hospital staff education
  • Cardiac services
  • Endowments

Capital Equipment

3-D mammography: to bring 3-D mammography to Twin Falls and upgrade the existing 3-D technology in Jerome.

Acute care specialty beds: for greater comfort as well as staff and patient safety. Each bed features built-in scales to weigh the patient, and mattresses specially designed to maintain and promote skin health, thus improving patient outcomes. Fundraising Need: $500,000

Cardiac monitoring technology: to update our current system with new, state-of-the-art technology, including alarm capabilities to enhance patient safety. Fundraising Need: $250,000

Neonatal warmers and incubators: to provide a quiet, warm, and comforting environment for premature or ill infants. These beds allow easy access to the tiniest patients, and include built-in scales and specialized mattresses. Fundraising Need: $160,000 (eight beds at $20,000 each)

Pediatric cribs: provide the safety and security young children need while undergoing important treatment and therapy. Fundraising Need: $25,000 (six cribs)

Patient and Community Programs

Cancer Patient Emergency Fund: Help to meet basic needs such as groceries, utilities, vehicle repairs, and medications when other community resources are not immediately accessible or available. Fundraising Need: $20,000 annually

900 Women Project: Our goal is to increase the Magic Valley’s screening mammogram rate by 10% each year, or 900 additional women. Lack of screenings lead to a high rate of advanced stage breast cancers and many preventable deaths in the past decade. Fundraising need: $75,000

Free heart screenings: More than 3,000 Magic Valley residents have received this risk factor screening, which also includes counseling with a registered nurse. Fundraising Need: $50,000

Endowment Fundraising

Children At Risk Evaluation Services (CARES) Endowment: CARES provides comprehensive evaluation services in times of suspected child abuse, working with local law enforcement and child protection agencies to minimize trauma to children and their families and help them move toward healing. Fundraising Need: $500,000

Nursing Continuing Education Endowment: Continuing education grants to St. Luke's Magic Valley nursing departments, nursing education, and individual nurses seeking to further patient care skills and techniques. Fundraising Need: $100,000

Safe Kids Endowment: Support for child safety education and injury prevention programs offered through the Magic Valley SAFE KIDS Coalition. Fundraising Need: $100,000

General Endowment: Support for healthcare programs of greatest need as determined by the Foundation Board of Trustees.
Fundraising Need: $1 million
