Funding Priorities
To the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation
Area of Greatest
Impact (Unrestricted)
A new Lab Information System, provided by donations made
to this fund, has propelled the Laboratory Department into
the electronic age, greatly improving staff’s ability
to quickly
and accurately perform more than 43,000 tests a year.
“I want to thank you personally and also as a Commissioner for the generosity displayed in the recent past by sponsoring the free cholesterol screenings. It’s a wonderful service you bring to this valley and I’ve no doubt the residents appreciate it tremendously.”
- Dennis Wright Blaine County Commissioner
Area of Greatest Impact (Hospital
needs Only)
This category provides you with the option to specify that
your
gift should be used only to support equipment and programs
“within the walls of the hospital,” such as this
year’s funding
for Obstetrics Upgrades.
“All of the equipment will help us provide a better experience for our mothers and babies. In particular, we are excited about the upgraded hearing screening system. This screening, which helps us detect possible hearing problems early in an infant’s life, is one of the most important things we can do for our families and babies before they leave the hospital.”
-Sebina Pettengill, RN Manager, Obstetrics Department
Capital Equipment
Donations to this fund invest in equipment that advances
our ability to provide the best possible care for our patients.
“The I-Suite operating room is to arthroscopic surgery as a glass cockpit is to fl ying. It provides us high-defi nition cameras and monitors for better visualization of the operative fi eld. Another prominent feature is voice activation, which allows the surgeon to command operative devices with his or her voice, thereby enhancing the effi ciency of the surgeon and the operative team. All of this is for the benefi t and safety of the patient.”
- A. Herbert Alexander, MD Alexander Orthopaedics, PA
Staff Education
Although the hospital designates funds for staff training
and education in its operating budget, the needs far
outweigh the hospital’s resources.
“Last month I came to the ER after a couple of days of feeling very ill. I was greeted by several very friendly, concerned staff members and was admitted very quickly. At that time several tests were performed to fi nd out what brought me there. Thanks to St. Luke’s I am now recovering. Ketchum is very lucky to have such a fabulous medical facility.”

Endowment
Gifts to the Endowment will help ensure our ability to
provide quality services to our community well into
the future, and to have resources available always for
continuing improvement of facilities, services, and programs.
“My personal goal is to help build a signifi cant endowment. Immediate cash gifts to create endowed funds, or gifts made through bequests in wills or other planned-giving vehicles, will make it possible for current and future physicians to practice at a high level in a state-of-the-art facility featuring advanced technology.”
- P. Scott McLean Jr., M.D.
Community Programs
Contributions to this fund help support the hospital’s
outreach efforts, including health promotion and wellness
education classes, birth and parenting initiatives, and
information and referral services.
“I didn’t think anything could match Dr. Covey’s amazing presentation, but the afternoon workshops were equally impressive. Thank you so much for providing our community with this incredible opportunity!”
-Hope Page, Community Member and Fall Conference Attendee
