Top 10 Orthopaedic Injuries
A. Herbert Alexander, MD, orthopaedic surgeon, will present this overview of the most common conditions seen in a “typical” orthopaedic practice. Dr. Alexander’s lecture will include information on ankle sprain, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, ACL tear, meniscal tear, shoulder dislocation, rotator cuff tear, stress fracture, carpal tunnel syndrome and fracture of the distal radius.

Overview of Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting fine needles through the skin at specific points on the body for therapeutic purposes and for relieving pain. This ancient Chinese practice is increasingly being integrated into traditional western medical practice. Come meet Thomas Archie, MD, family medicine and board certified medical acupuncturist, and Joan Scheingraber, licensed acupuncturist, to learn more about this increasingly used modality.

Answering Your Questions about HPV
HPV is the virus that causes genital warts. This virus is a major risk factor for cervical cancer. Most people who are infected have no symptoms and inadvertently pass their infection along to their sexual partners. Join Leigh Morse, MD, family medicine, to learn more about this devastating, yet preventable disease of women and the vaccine now available for females aged 9 –26.

Healing Touch
Healing Touch uses the sense of touch to influence the human energy system, specifically the energy field that surrounds the body. Jean A. Scepka, RN, BSN, CHTP will discuss this non-invasive technique that uses the hands of the practitioner to clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields, for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and healing. The goal of Healing Touch is to restore balance and harmony in the energy system placing the client in a position to self heal.

AED Heartsaver CPR
Learn how to use the Automated External Defibrillator in addition to the American Heart Association course on recognizing and responding to emergency situations involving infants, children and adults. Good for beginners and for those who need to renew their Heartsaver Certification.

Intuitive Eating Series
Intuitive eating teaches you how to create a healthy relationship with your food, your mind and your body. Be a part of this special opportunity to learn and practice intuitive eating over a 4 class series. Learn gradually how to distinguish between physical and emotional feelings, and gain a sense of body wisdom. Join Andrea Girman, MD, MPH and Becky McCarver, MS, Registered Dietitian, as they help you make peace with food and get rid of those "food worry" thoughts. Oh, Boy!
Puberty class for boys ages 9-12 and their parents
Puberty is a time of change for kids - and parents! This one-day course will be a fun and interactive way to get a better idea about the changes bodily changes and emotional ups and downs that accompany early adolescence. Topics include: Anatomy and physiology; emotional and physical changes; the human reproductive system; relationships with parents and friends; and body image and self-esteem. Experts in adolescent health will address concerns, including factual responses to questions about boys and girls. Your son must be accompanied by a parent - Mom and Dad are both welcome to attend.

New Mom’s Group
Provides newborn and breastfeeding support and an opportunity to ask questions and learn the basics of raising babies. The presence of professionals, as well as other new parents, makes this group a comfortable and valuable experience. Bring your baby and your lunch, if you wish.
