Quality, comfort, safety

Since St. Luke’s Wood River opened in 2000, the number of babies born in our hospital has steadily increased. Today, more than 300 families trust us to care for them and their newest additions each year.

Our Mother / Baby Unit includes six Labor and Delivery rooms, so newborns and their families can experience the entire birthing process—including labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery—in a safe, comfortable, home-like environment, with state-of-the-art technology.

Certified Lactation Consultants
Breastfeeding is natural, but it is not automatic. Like any worthwhile endeavor, it takes practice. The first few weeks can be the most challenging, and St. Luke's is committed to helping you and your baby get off to a good start. Our certified lactation specialists are here to help answer your questions, encourage you through any stumbling blocks, and give you and your baby the best experience. Click here to learn more.

Make a Birth Plan

A birth plan provides a great way to discuss birth options and medical treatments with your doctor and nurses. Creating a birth plan helps you and your partner design and shape your birth experience. It also encourages discussion and helps you make decisions about what you want before labor begins. Click here to learn more.
