Cancer Care
Integrative Medicine

Treating cancer successfully goes beyond a focus on the disease itself. At St. Luke's MSTI, we understand that attention to your overall well-being will help promote healing and improve your quality of life.

Integrative Medicine Programs

St. Luke's MSTI's Integrative Medicine classes and programs promote health and healing of the body, mind, and spirit for patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Our Integrative Medicine program offers complementary therapies that can help strengthen patients physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Research confirms that integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, and gentle exercise:

  • Allow patients to take a more active role in treatment and survivorship
  • Improve quality of life
  • May help decrease treatment side effects and symptoms (including pain, nausea, and insomnia)
  • Reduce anxiety and stress
  • Provide a sense of overall well-being

Integrative Medicine therapies at St. Luke's MSTI include regularly scheduled services such as acupuncture, massage, exercise, and music, as well as occasional workshops and classes in nutrition, art, and other topics. Services are offered at each St. Luke's MSTI location, although not all therapies are available at all sites. Some services are available to patients hospitalized on the Oncology Unit at St. Luke's Boise Medical Center.

Services are available to all St. Luke's MSTI patients and survivors, as well as their family members and caregivers. Some programs are open to anyone receiving cancer care, regardless of where they are treated.

Integrative Medicine is partially supported through private donations and grants. Donations can be made to the St. Luke's MSTI Complementary and Integrative Medicine fund or the St. Luke's MSTI Complementary and Integrative Medicine Scholarship fund, managed by St. Luke's Health Foundation.
