Medical Imaging
Electroencephalography (EEG)
Electroencephalography (EEG) is a service provided
at St. Luke's Magic Valley to help the physician in diagnosing disorders of
the brain. We have been providing this service to the
community since 1968, and today we have state-of-the-art digital
equipment to enhance our testing capabilities.
EEG is primary in the evaluation of epilepsy, seizure disorders, brain injury and infection, cerebral vascular accidents (CVAs) , transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), tumors, dementia, sleep disorders, and even brain death.
EEG is a non-invasive and painless procedure,
which involves taking a brief history of the patient's complaints,
measuring his or her head, applying electrode leads to
the scalp, and running the test. A neurologist
reads the EEG and reports the finding to the patient's physician.
