Medical Imaging
Digital Radiology Department
St. Luke's Magic Valley's Picture Archiving and Communication
Systems (PACS) is used for imaging modalities including CT, MRI, Ultrasound,
Nuclear Medicine, and x-ray, all of which were printed on film prior to the PACS installation in 2001. Physicians and medical
center employees now have access to these critical diagnostic
tools via computer, in their
offices, at workstations in the medical center, and even at home.
A Kodak DirectView CR 900 system installed in 2002 complements
the PACS and supports multiple exam rooms as well as portable
x-ray exams. CR systems create images that are stored digitally
and can be easily accessed.
The caregivers who need patient information can now get it more quickly and easily than ever before. The sooner they have the information, the sooner an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan can be identified for the patient.
