HypnoBirthing®

Description:
The HypnoBirthing® Method, developed by Marie Mongan, is a comprehensive childbirth class that emphasizes effective birthing techniques to enable a mother to work with the natural rhythms of her body, facilitating a more comfortable birthing experience and minimizing the need for interventions.  HypnoBirthing® is a collaborative method of childbirth, not an alternative method. Whether a mother is planning a natural birth or if she chooses an epidural, HB is a very effective method to prepare physically and emotionally for birth.  Participants will receive a class packet, book, and relaxation CD for practice at home. Women are advised to take the class in their 6th or 7th month of pregnancy; however, benefits are derived from taking the class at any point during pregnancy. All sessions will be conducted by a Certified Hypnobirthing® Practitioner trained through Mongan’s Hypnobirthing® Institute.

The HypnoBirthing® is a 5 week series designed to teach the birth mother and her “labor companion” the following:

• Deep relaxation and self hypnosis techniques.
• Massage, visualization, positions and special breathing techniques
• Guided imagery for positive birth images
• Releasing fear and preparing the mind for birthing
• Perinatal bonding

With Hypnobirthing®, mothers will experience a variety of positive physical and psychological benefits through the reduction of fear and tension.  This will have several highly beneficial consequences.  These include:

• Less stressful pregnancy
• Reduced length of labor
• Reduced pain and/or need for painkillers
• Reduced fatigue during labor
• Increased energy and alertness during labor
• Improved recovery time
• Positive memories of birth experience

Cost:
$175 with a 50% deposit at time of registration.
