St. Luke's Occupational Health Services provides comprehensive health-related services at two convenient locations. From employee physicals and work injury medical care to immunizations and medical surveillance, we work with your company to ensure new employees are safely prepared to begin employment, current employees remain healthy, and employees with work-related injuries return to work as soon as possible.
Occupational Medicine
Specialists
Our occupational health professionals respond quickly to your employees' needs and offer appropriate treatment in a clinic specially dedicated to occupational medicine. Our physicians
– Cody Heiner, MD, MPH and Brian Johns, MD, MPH
– specialize in occupational and environmental medicine. Their expertise and that of our certified physician assistants and nurse practioners reduces referrals to additional specialists.

Cody Heiner, MD, MPH, medical director of St. Luke’s Occupational Health, earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City. He completed his general clinical internship, and occupational medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Dr. Heiner provides comprehensive health-related services for employers and employees, including work injury medical care, drug and alcohol testing, employee physicals, and immunizations.
Brian Johns, MD, MPH, FACOEM, earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City and completed his internship at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. He earned a Master of Public Health degree and completed his residency in occupational medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Dr. Johns practiced occupational medicine in Iowa City for several years before joining St. Luke's Magic Valley Occupational Health in 2008. He is board certified in occupational medicine and a fellow in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He is also a certified independent medical examiner.
Dr. Johns is available to see patients for work injuries, pre-placement, DOT, respirator, Hazmat, and other examinations; disability assessments; impairment ratings; and independent medical evaluations.
