Multiple Gestations

Multiple gestations are on the rise, due mainly to new infertility treatments and technology, but also to the increasing number of older women having babies (because of their greater chance of giving birth to twins). These pregnancies frequently present with problems of prematurity, growth, prolonged hospitalization and other complications. All multiple gestations should be considered high risk, due to the great deal of medical care and follow-up required; our physicians are adept at managing multiple pregnancies, including twins, triplets and higher.
